This tells you the average size of your red blood cells.
An MCV result orients you toward the average bulk of a single red cell. This single figure gives your doctor a helpful starting clue when sorting through possible reasons behind low blood counts.
Also known as: Mean Corpuscular Volume, Mean Cell Volume
This isn't a case where higher or lower is better. Your body keeps it in a narrow band, and both directions can matter.
